An Open Letter to Brother

Hi Brother

The last time I wrote a letter to you, the God-damn courier company probably made a paper boat out of it and used it to sail on the roads of ever water logged Kankarbagh. So the open letter this time. 

You are about to begin a new phase of your life. You are leaving home for pursuing your graduation. I know you do not need any sermons or lectures on how to survive in this cruel world, away from family. In spite of being five years younger than me, you are way more practical and matured, and I know you will be able to tackle every situation that comes your way. I have always been the rebel child, and you the obedient child of mom and dad. So keep it that way even when you are miles away from them. Whenever something distracts you from your goals, remember that your elder sister has already been a disappointment, and that our parents have now pinned their hopes on you. Do not let them down. This certainly does not mean that you don't have to enjoy your life. Relish every bit of the coming four years. Meet new people, explore new places, follow your passions. 

Before this letter starts sounding like a moral science class, I just want to say one last thing... Be a man of dignity and the rest will follow.

Oouch... its one sided!!!

Oouch… did u say “One Sided”?? It hurts… It definitely does!

It is one of the worst thing that can happen to anyone. Nothing can be more painful than falling in love with someone who can never be yours. People say love is wonderful. All I wonder is how can something so damn wonderful in essence be such a torture when it comes to “Unrequited love”!!

So what next? Do you want to keep on crying for that person who does not even notice your tears? No way! Keep these few tips in mind and I assure you… U’ll start enjoying your love rather than crying over it! 

1.     Don’t force yourself to hate them: If you’re thinking that the only way to get over your feelings is to start hating him/her, then let me tell you, you are only making matters worse for yourself as you’re eventually thinking of that person even more! 

2.    Don’t force them to love you: You simply cannot make anyone fall for you. Everyone have their choices just as you do. For once, think from their perspective, you might not be the one he/she is looking for! You just gotta deal with this truth and it will definitely hurt less.

3.    Keep yourself busy: Come on guys, there’s a lot of important work to do than sitting back and thinking about the one who doesn’t give a damn to you and your feelings. Dedicate your time to your work, your studies, your hobbies! Go get a life!!

4.    Don’t seclude yourself from your dear ones: Try to spend more time with your family and friends. I know you must have been ignoring them, be it unintentionally, for that one person. Don’t do that. Being with them will help you keep your mind off him/her.

5.    Acceptance: This is the biggest step… to realize this was never real, to realize this person was never meant to be yours, to realize you have got no reason to love him/her. I know its difficult but atleast its way better than continue living in a fantasy world… isn’t it?

6.    Time heals all pain: Someday… maybe not today or not tomorrow…but someday… the scars will fade away with time. Time will fill the gap. Life is short and there is no point waiting for someone you can’t have. Instead find someone special who completes you.

Before applying the above tips, always remember no tips can make your life better unless you want it to be better. 

Fact: This will make you feel good… The feeling of not being loved by the person you love, affects 98% of all people during their lifetimes!

So stop having such thoughts in your mind like, “Why me?” or even more dramatic ones like, “Am I  not worth of his/her love” and blah blah! If you’re having such thoughts then let me tell you… YOU’RE SPECIAL AND YOU’LL ALWAYS BE! J

the chum in your spouse...!!

its 3 am... insomnia hitting on me again! never mind!

well... had other ways of tackling this thief of my slumber... but chose to create this post...!

Do u ever miss the chum in your spouse? i guess most of us do!

at times, we feel we are not able to share things with our life partners the way we do with our buddies! we can't talk, laugh, cry ... in short, we find it difficult to be ourselves in front of our "special one"!! the reason behind it.... spending less time as friends... and getting into the relationship in haste.

Friendship is often the basis for a deeper kind of love, one that tends to be more long-term. In my opinion, that kind of chemistry lasts where the boy and the girl have been friends for quite long... have known each other well... seen all the aspects of each other's characters... have been with each other in their good & bad times!

So....... u'll never miss the chum in your spouse if u've found your spouse in your chum! :)

Its then when u feel like singing, "Tera mujhse hai pehle ka naata koi... yu hi nahi dil lubhaata koi... jaane tuuuuuuu, ya jaane naaaaaaa!!!"

Even experts agree on the healthy survival rates of many friend-to-lover relationships.  All the time u're being friends, u're learning about each other. Subconsciously u're deciding whether u can take it further, from a friendship on to a more emotional level.

So so so... all single guys and girls out there..... if u start feeling for your best buddy, talk to them openly! like any relationship, good communication is the key to keep u both in good terms & regardless of the outcome... maintain your strong bond forever 'coz Rats & Meows are always meant to be together! :)

All that happens in love! (Part ii)

The world around Kavya had changed totally! She had started loving each and every thing around her… everything appeared so pleasant like never before. Just the thought of Sahil would bring a huge smile on her lips, sparkle in her eyes and a glow on her face!! Before meeting Sahil, she lived in a world where she hated guys like anything… but now, her entire world revolved around a single guy!! The girl who believed that true love, promises of staying with each other till last breath, planning for the future, etc existed only in Yash Chopra’s movies and Mills & Boons’ novels… but now, she herself was experiencing all this!!

 Sahil taught her the meaning of love. He made her believe that her life was a fairytale, she was a princess and he, her prince charming. Though he had many flings in the past, but it was the first time he was so serious about his relationship. He always made her feel special. He was mad for her. He could spend hours looking at his princess. He could do anything to see her smile. He had decided that he’ll spend his entire life with Kavya. Everything was going on better than anyone expected… until 7^th of Feb 2008!

That morning Sahil arrived at the office earlier than usual. Kavya’s face beamed as she saw her lover boy waiting for her!!

“Hey hi…” Kavya smiled. Her smile vanished soon when she saw Sahil’s face.  His eyes were red as if he hadn’t slept the previous night and his face appeared very pale! “Shona…what happened to you?? you fine na??”

“Kavya… I …I …”, Sahil’s voice was shaking. Kavya’s heart knew something was horribly wrong with him ‘coz Sahil wasn’t among those people who panicked on small issues. “Kavya listen to me very carefully…”

“I am listening…go on!”Sahil sighed. “One of my friend’s boyfriend had gone to donate blood to one of his relatives yesterday. But there the doctors found that he was HIV positive.” “What??? Ohhh gosh!! Poor guy! But…whom are you talking about?” “Kavya let me complete first…” “Alright!”

“Doctors have said that he has about one year left! My friend and her boyfriend love each other a lot. They cant live without each other. I just want your suggestion… Should my friend be with him or should she leave him right now?”

“She should obviously be with him till his last breath… when two people are in a relationship, they are not just for the good times. Even if the guy doesn’t have much time left, the girl should definitely stay by his side and shower all her love on him! Now are you going to tell me who is that friend of yours?”

Sahil took out a piece of paper and handed it over to Kavya. “Whats this?”, Kavya was puzzled. She couldn’t understand wat was going on! She unfolded the paper. It appeared to be a prescription or report kind of thing. It read…

HIV- POSITIVE.

On top of the paper, Kavya read something that made her mind go blank…

Patient’s name: SAHIL KASHYAP

She read it again and again. “This cant be! No! there must be some misunderstanding! This report cant be true!! Sahil say something please… this isn’t true na?? this repot can’t be yours! Nothing can happen to you!!”

“Kavya this report is mine. And its true! They have referred me to APOLLO. I am leaving for delhi tomorrow with mum and dad!

Kavya fainted in Sahil’s arms. When she regained her consciousness, she was lying in the nearby nursing home with Sahil sitting next to her, holding her hand. She caught his sleeves and started crying “Sahil, please tell me that it was a nightmare and nothing has happened to you…”. “It wasn’t a nightmare Kavya…but its not true either!

“what??????????”

“The report was fake. M perfectly fine. Just wanted to tease you a bit!!” Sahil grinned.

“Tease me a bit?? Sahil u almost gave me a heart attack and you are saying a bit?????” Kavya was extremely annoyed with Sahil’s deadly prank but at the same time she was very happy that it was just a prank!!

“I hate you Sahil kashyap!”

“And I love you Kavya Verma! And I also know how madly u love me…thanks to this HIV prank!”

Before Kavya could scold him more, Sahil brought his face close to hers and kissed her!!

All that happens in love!

It was the first day at work and Kavya was quite nervous. Being nervous was something very contrary to her character! She kept on thinking, “Why on Earth am I freaking out?” But somewhere inside she knew the answer. “I am definitely not going to send my daughter to an all girls school!!” , she said to herself. Kavya had never been around guys. She did not have a single male friend. An all girls’ missionary school and then graduating from an all girls’ college. She had always been a cool and confident lass all her academic life, but  just hated those creatures from the opposite gender!

Dressed in white salwar kameez, she entered her office. Soon she started interacting with her female colleagues and found them very friendly and co-operative. Then the introductory session took place and all the new recruits introduced themselves.  Kavya didn’t even bother to notice any of her male colleagues. But yes…there was a name amidst so many new names that had caught her attention! “hey friends I am Sahil Kashyap!” “Hmm…nice name… and nice voice too”, Kavya thought , but even then didn’t care to have a look at him. Being a sincere girl, she had already engrossed herself in her new work.

Days were passing by and Kavya was enjoying her office life. She was liking everything around her… her job, her new friends, her new environment… There was hardly any interaction with any of her male colleagues (which she liked the most)……everything seemed perfect!!

“Meeting at 2:30 sharp”, boss announced. Kavya and two of her friends, Naina and Pari, reached the board room 15 minutes before. Some other staff members were already present there. The trio took their seats at one corner of the room and were waiting for the meeting to commence. “Isn’t that tall, fair guy in spects staring at you Pari?”, Naina remarked. “Oh really? Who cares! He is Sahil Kashyap, a big flirt… I have heard a lot about him from his college mates”, Pari replied. Kavya finally decided to have a look at the topic of discussion. “Flirt? But he looks quite calm and composed!” “Looks are often deceptive Kavya!!”  Meanwhile Sahil came and took a seat parallel to Pari. “Naina’s guess was right”, Kavya thought, “this guy definitely likes Pari”. The three of them started giggling and whispering to each other. And then something unexpected happened! Sahil turned to Kavya and said, “You are Kavya, right?Hi I am Sahil. “Ya, Hi” Kavya replied hesitantly. “I have sent you a friend request on facebook. When do you get online by the way? Anyways, seems the meeting is about to start, see ya later,” and then he left his seat and went to sit with other colleagues. “OMG! Can anybody explain me what just happened??” Pari said. The three of them looked at each other with baffled expressions. But they had definitely concluded one thing, Sahil was a BIG FLIRT for sure!!

That evening after work, Kavya found a friend request on FB and a message in her inbox-“Please check your mail.” Her heart was pouncing, with hundreds of questions arising in her mind…”What on Earth is he trying to do?? He hardly knows me! May be some official work? May be he is trying to approach Pari through me? Arghhh…that’s why I hate guys!!” And then finally she read the mail…

Kavya could’nt believe what she had just read. She was fuming. She was nervous. She was frightned.

“What is he up to??” she thought. She went to her mother and placed her head on her lap. Sobbing, she narrated the entire mail to her mum. “Mom, I don’t want to go dat place anymore, I don’t want to face that guy”, Kavya  said with tears in her eyes. “I didn’t know that my daughter will give up so easily. I have always taught you to face problems, not to run away from it. And beta this is just the beginning. The next time he approaches you, tackle him boldly.” “Hmm… I’ll try my best!”

The next day at office… “WTF!!! He proposed you in that mail!!!” “What does he think of himself???” “He has definitely got a lot of guts”. “What are you planning to do now?” Questions, questions, questions…all around Kavya! Hundreds arising in her mind and now hundreds from Naina and Pari. “I don’t know girls what I am gonna do! Feeling like slapping him.” All this time Sahil was constantly looking at Kavya which was infuriating her even more. And then he came towards her, “I guess you have read my mail”. “Yes I did! Kavya replied. “So…??” “So what? Do you even know anything about me besides my name? How can you mail me all that crap straight away? Are you out of your mind?? And let me tell you clearly, I am not the kind of girl you are assuming me to be! Don’t you dare talk to me again!!!” “Are you done Miss Kavya? Now may I get your permission to speak a few words?” Sahil said in a cool manner. Kavya realised that her tone had become quite offensive and meanwhile she hadn’t even given him the opportunity to defend himself. “Hmm… go ahead!” she said. “Look, I am really sorry for the mail. Actually I am a very impatient guy. I know I should I have approached you in a different manner but I couldn’t control myself. when i saw u for the first time i became interested in u....... just like that

when i saw u more i became attracted to you.........

when i came to know more and more about you..i don’t know how...i fell in love with you ....

I never believed in ‘love at first sight’ till it happened to me when I saw you on the very first day of office! You were looking so beautiful in that white salwar kameez, and when you were giving your intro, you were adjusting your dupatta over your left shoulder………. “Stop your nonsense right now!” Kavya shouted. “Wait wait, m sorry, m so sorry, just two more minutes, please Kavya  let me complete!” “What do you want?” “I just want to be you friend that’s all! I’ll never ever  discuss anything that you wont like, I swear! And if I do then you are free to walk away, but please give me just one chance, please”.

There was something in Sahil that made him different from others, atleast for Kavya. His attitude, his confidence, his super cool behaviour attracted her towards him, although she didn’t realise it then. It was just his hatred towards all boys in general that was making her so rude to him. But her hatred gave way to her attraction and she agreed to be his new friend!

Soon Sahil and Kavya became best of friends. Whenever they used to get time from their work, they spent it with one another having coffee or talking. They seemed to have umpteen topics of discussion…their talks would never end, be it in the office, or on the phone, or through texts!

As Sahil had promised, he never brought up anything that would annoy Kavya. He had started liking her even more and didn’t want to loose her in any case. Although they had become good friends, still Sahil could not read Kavya’s mind.

But one day Sahil gave up, “Look Kavya, its getting really difficult for me to pretend. You know very well what I feel for you, still I have to behave in front of you as if you are like my every other friend! I can’t do this anymore, so it would be better if we part ways!”  “No no no, please don’t do that”, Kavya wanted to say it but she couldn’t. “Alright! Bye”, she said. And then they stopped talking to each other.

 But Kavya didn’t know it was going to be so tough for her. She couldn’t do a single work properly. Sahil was always there in her mind. She was confused. She wanted to keep herself busy with her work, but she couldn’t. “What’s happening with me girls??” “You are in love sweetheart!!” her friends told her. “So what should I do now??” she asked restlessly. “Tell him about your feelings you fool!!”

It was 5^th December 2007, 6:04 pm. She called him.

Kavya: hi sahil, its me Kavya!

Sahil: ya say!

Kavya: just wanted you to know that I am in love with someone!

Sahil: oh that’s great. Who’s he?

Kavya: He is very unpredictable, but I love him. He is very short tempered but I love him. He is totally mad but I still love him. And that he is you!"

And after this conversation Sahil and Kavya got “Happily committed” to each other!!! J

I freaking love the colour pink...dunno the reason but evrytime i go for shopping, just have one thing in mind "not pink again"...and everytime i end up buying a pink dress, a pink hairband, pink clips, pink footwear, etc etc...!!!

Pink is the colour i wanna look at….PINK HOUSE….PINK WALLS….PINK BATHROOM…PINK BEDROOM….PINK CLOTHES…EVEN A PINK  BATHTUB!!! It is the color of my fairyland...I cannot imagine my world without pink in it!!! PINK is feminine...PINK is romantic...PINK is hope...PINK is affectionate...PINK is unconditional love!!

I really wonder what makes me and 

almost every other girl obsessed with this color?? Is it some kind of just a social behavior… there must be some connection for sure with the scientific aspects or are there any specific genes which make us like or dislike something??? I guess thats why most of the girls have the same genetic characters with respect to liking pink as a color of choice…!!

LOVE...a simple four letter word that we come across almost everyday, but this simple four letter word can bring your world upside down!!!
Different people have different opinions about "being in love". For heart broken kids, love is a waste of time... for people who have experienced a successful love life, its one of the best feelings in the world...& the list goes on for all kinds of homo sapiens.

I have been through both... I have seen the good as well as the bad part of a relationship! Whenever anyone asks me "how does it feel being in love with someone??" I answer immediately without having any second thoughts..."Love makes life beautiful!!!"

People often ask their partners..."do you love me??"
A free advice from my side, never ask anyone if they love you! Even if someone is angry, he/she is demonstrating love. Emotions like anger, jealousy and greed are because of love! Love is our nature.
If someone is sleeping, do you ask the person "Hey are you sleeping?"
If you do, you have already woken him up!
So....from next time never ask your better half if he/she loves you or not...just keep on loving them...unconditionally!
